The all-electric Italian-made karts ran fast and smooth across two multi-level tracks full of elevation changes, hairpins, and chicanes — a fitting off-season fix for a club built on Italian engineering.
Booking as a group paid off. Three races per driver, head-to-head with fellow Ducatisti, and because we reserved together we ran our own heats and skipped the walk-in line that can stretch to 90 minutes on a busy Saturday.
The racing was close, the trash talk was closer, and a few members found out that throttle control on a kart is its own discipline entirely.
When the checkered flag dropped, the off-season tradition carried on over dinner at The Greek on Main in historic downtown Metuchen, five minutes from the track.
The BYOB, farm-to-table Greek kitchen on Main Street from Chef Theodore Kappas gave the crew a place to bring a bottle, recap the day's racing, and close out the off-season the way this club does best: together.
The bikes will be back on the road soon — but days like this are why the Gotham Ducati family stays tight through the winter.
